Things You’re Doing That Won’t Give You Web Traffic

Ahhh… I just realize that what bloggers mostly blog about is “How to get web traffic”.  But seriously I have never read or come across a blog post that talks about, how and what we are doing wrong and why we are not getting that much traffic to our blog that we always wish for. To me I feel that the main reason we are not getting that much traffic (as we want) to our blog is simply because we are not trying out new ways of getting it, right?

There are some bloggers who don’t give a darn about your post, they are only at your blog because of backlinks and forget about the information you hold… if you are that blogger who always comments on blogs saying – “Thanks for the tip, it was helpful” and you are not putting what you learn into practice, you will only be in just one position for a long time 😀 .

Things You’re Doing That Won’t Give You Web Traffic

If you have been getting 100 visits per day for the past one month and you have been reading my blog, then you are doing some things wrong.

If you have been getting 200 visits per day for the past one month and the traffic have not increased, and you have been reading my blog, then you are doing some things wrong. But what are the things you are actually doing wrong that you don’t know you’re doing?

Not practicing what you learn:

Stop asking how and where I get my web traffic from if you know that you can’t keep up or do the same process as I am…

Many people don’t actually practice what they see or read, even if they know that it would help them. Some bloggers want things done in automation so it will be easier for them, but they don’t actually want to know the downside of those automated tools.

My advice: it is not always about commenting, giving props to the author without doing what he/ she instructed. It’s about implementing what you read and give a “proper thanks” to the author by commenting. That way, it will make the author happier…

Always practice what you learn…

Your analytic is not for show, use it

Statisctics

Seriously, your analytic tool is not meant for show off or just seeing your total visits or impressions. Your analytic tool can guide you to ways in which you can get some good amount of traffic to your blog, but only if you follow the rules.

Like me, I seriously don’t joke with my stat tools because they guide me on places I get my most traffic from.

I use Google analytic to know where my visitors are coming from the most (per day). I also use my statcounter to know where my traffic is actually coming from. The reason I use statcounter is because, I feel they are accurate and they show me my “came from” stat by the hour 🙂

My advice: Learn how to use your analytic tool to your advantage. If you know how to use it and you have not been paying attentions to it, you need to start now.

Always pay attention to your stat…

Promoting your blog post on social networks at the wrong time:

If you have been submitting your blog post to social networks and you are not seeing results, just know that your writing is not bad or your title is not good enough. One of the main reasons you’re not getting the result you’re hoping for, is because you are posting your link to these social networks at the wrong time.

My advice: Try to figure out the best time to post your links on each social network and you will surely increase your social traffic…

Know the best time to post on social networks…

A big word of advice:

I once read somewhere that; our brain can only do what we want “her” to do. That means we are the ones limiting ourselves. Imagine, if you can open your brain to like 5% percent more of what you’re using now, how super do you think you would be?

If you always practice what you learn, and doing new things in the process, your limit will be limitless 😀 fact…

  1. Hey Babanature,

Implementation is one of the key reasons why so many bloggers don’t get any traffic. We want to leverage whatever we can to get the results that we want, but we have to get to that point first. You have to actually work to build that momentum that’s going to propel you.

Two things I like to add:

    1. You have to add a lot of value. I know this sounds cliche, but people still don’t do it. They either regurgitate word from word of what the majority says, without giving their own perception, or they just sell, sell sell without even showing how to sell and why it’s important.

    2. You want to promote focusing on your niche first. If you’re just starting out, start off with your niche and promote. These people are already interested in what you do, so it would be common sense to know that you can leverage them or their blogs to help you get traffic.

    Thanks for sharing Babanature!

    1. Hi Sherman, I agree with you about the value of the content. After I finish reading a blog post, I ask myself if the time I just spent reading it was worthwhile. I need to either learn or be entertained, preferably both. If so, I’ll return. If not, I won’t.

That’s why I’m back here at Babanature’s site. He is great at teaching on valuable topics for bloggers.

  2. Hello Babanature,
You have proven some good point here which i loved. I am just so involve in not careying out what i learn inline. I do hope to strengthen this part and see how my journey go. Thanks

    1. Hello Bello,
We are all guilty for that, sometimes we hate carrying out what we learn due to laziness or some other reasons. You can start developing the zeal to always carry out what you learn by giving that thing time. Time can solve any solution. Thanks for the comment and do have a wonderful weekend 🙂

  3. Your article is very interesting, especially title about promoting on social networks. Time to post your article on Social networks is really important.

    Thanks for sharing with us.

  4. Only kids don’t ready valuable content.

Posting links to social networks at the wrong time I don’t know about this, I think title and photo take an important roll.

Best regards from I. C. Daniel

    1. Many bloggers do use Photos and good title and still have some problem getting traffic. To best get full advantage of social networks, it is good to know the best time to post on social networks so you can get the full benefits from it…

  5. I am also getting the visitors in the range of 150-200 per day consistently for last 15 days. I have been doing things to improve that but no profit. I hope after reading your post I can make it improve it. Thanks for sharing these tips….

  6. thank you very much for this informative articles.
Before reading your article I am doing some mistakes but now i will implement these thingls on my blog and hope so i will get huge traffic.
    Thanks again 😀

    1. Hello Rajesh,
You don’t need to implement it on your blog, you only need to implement it in your brain. Because the tips will surely help if followed. You see, the main reason we are not getting traffic to our blog is simply because we do not follow what we learn…

  7. Hi Babanatune, the biggest problem that you mentioned, people is always asking the same question over and over again but they never take action or even try the method.

    Thanks – Ferb

  8. Great points, Babanature – I’m guilty of all the failings you mention here! I think not practising what you learn is a big one for bloggers, because we’re often so overwhelmed by new stuff, ebooks, different kinds of advice, shiny objects training courses etc. that we never get around actually to ‘doing’ it.

Scheduling social media posts for the right time is tricky, particularly with all the different time zones.

I agree with what Sherman says about value, too – in some ways, I think that’s the most important thing, because if you’re creating content people like, they’re more likely to share it for you, and that will lead to more traffic.

    Sue

    1. Oh Thanks Sue… I really do believe that implementing what we learn from other websites or blogs is a good thing and a way to show that we care for our blogs. most times, I also don’t always carryout what i read except when needed 🙂 so i’ll say that we are all guilty on that 🙂 . But seriously, i never fail to put any traffic tips to good use…

Somebody once told me that the time you share your post on social networks determines your traffic. setting ones post to auto post on the time zones is also one great move…

Thanks for the lovely contribution and do have your self a lovely weekend…

  9. Damn I miss your blog. I haven’t updated my blog for up to a week now but I still saw some decent traffic from Search engines. Now back to this post, driving traffic to ones blog is really a hard task but one worth doing :D.

I’ll say i’m only guilty about working hard to improve my blog’s traffic :). O’ll be sure to implement what I’ve read, and start seeing results. Thanks for sharing this post sir.

    1. Hello Wilson,
why haven’t you updated your blog? You must be strong o because that’s a nice of giving up 🙂

Yeah! Driving traffic to your blog is indeed a hard thing to do and it really does take our time doing it. But as a blogger, it is important to always drive targeted traffic to our blog, right?

As a blogger, it is good to always try as much to update your blog with tips you learn outside to better help your blog. Thanks for the comment and do have a great week ahead…

  10. I agree Babanature, if you’re doing one or more of these then don’t be surprised if you aren’t getting the traffic to your sites. Jeez, there are so many other things that people can do wrong as well but I know you were limited to just three here.

How about if you always post just your content and never share anyone else’s on the social sites. People will see you as just here for yourself so they definitely won’t be interested in checking out what you have to share.

Not practicing what you learn was something you mentioned but even if you do yet you’re not consistent with your actions then you’re still not going to see much traffic.

There are a couple more I could think of off the top of my head. Hope they were helpful as well.

Thanks for this post and you enjoy your weekend.

    ~Adrienne

    1. Aahhh… You are so right on point Adrienne,

Thanks for the contribution to the post, i appreciate 🙂 . Thanks for your comment and do have a blessed weekend ahead my friend 🙂

  11. Yes bro ! Google Analytics is indeed a great tool to get detailed information on the visitors ..I found the importance of it when i discovered that i was getting traffic from foreign countries to the posts which had nothing to do with them as those posts were targeted towards my native country..Hence , i had a very high bounce rate (and had a very little visitors)…when i started writing posts that were for all the audiences …the bounce rate of my blog decreased and the count of visitors increased…Well bro , can you share your experiences on at what time you posted links to the social networks?

    Regards,
    Pramod

    1. Hello Pramod,
Yes, your analytic tool will definitely show you where your traffic is coming from and even show you how to strengthen your effort to even get more targeted traffic if you pay close attention.

I will definitely do Pramod. Just watch out for the post soonest. Thanks for the lovely comment and do have a great weekend ahead…

  12. Hey Baba,

You know what in India BABA means Saint. And you are saint in blogging . Well one of my friend is also nicknamed as BABA we call him baba. You have shared such an amazing article. Well you are right we have to follow some significant steps towards success.
Will keep that in mind . Thanks for the share 🙂 🙂

  13. Hi Babanature,

Sorry for being late this time dear friend – just been so involved in pending projects due to my little holiday a few days back, though I’m glad I’m here now 🙂

I couldn’t agree more with all that you wrote. I especially agree about sharing your posts at the right time on the social medias – this is a major factor. I noticed this sometime back and now that I’ve started sharing it on the G+ communities also I can see the difference, provided the time is right!

I’m not much in favor of automation or automating anything, though I wonder how people manage to do that. I guess being personal gives a better touch, and you are right – if you learn something from someone, put it into practice or else it’s useless – the least you can do is thank the person for it and give them that due credit.

Thanks for sharing these tips with us. Have a nice weekend 🙂

    1. Hello Harleena,
Thanks for squeezing your tight schedule to comment here, i so much appreciate 🙂

I always advice people not to use automated tools but i guess some people like it simple and easy, right? Thanks for your comment my friend, i so much appreciate it. Have a blessed week…

  14. Thanks for sharing these wonderful tips.I would love to try them on my website.Hope they would work for me in a better way

  15. Hi Babanature,

These are really great points, Babanature! Implementing what we learn is very important because knowledge in the head only without action will not make us move forward.

Also implementing something without being consistent will not get you where you want, it may move you forward a little bit but not too far. Consistency with implementing what we learn is key.

Great Post Babanature and thanks for sharing.

    Be Blessed,

    Neamat

  16. Hi Babanature, I am always surprised when people don’t tell me that they pay attention to their stats. I use Jetpack, GA, Clicky and my hosting stats to give me the information I want. I find it fascinating to see where people come from and what they’re reading on my site. By seeing which articles are the most popular, I see what people want to read.

I use Buffer to help send my message at the right time. But I find by keeping a regular posting schedule my readers know what to expect and many arrive at my site right before I post a new article.

    1. Hello Carolyn,
Yeah, it is indeed surprisingly funny to see some bloggers who don’t know how to use their stat to engage and boost their traffic. I might even give some good tips about how to effectively use your stats for bloggers who don’t know how to use it 😉

Ahhh… I just started using buffer and i must confess that it has reduced my workload in a way. I don’t like automated tool but buffer is one automated tool i’ll recommend to any blogger 🙂 .

Thanks for stopping by and dropping your contribution Carolyn. Do have your self a blessed weekend 🙂

  17. Hi babanature,
Those are really some serious tips, starting with commenting you should show your experience in your comment so that it will add value to the post and attract people to click on your link, and don’t be afraid to disagree with the post. As for analytic tools it can really help you to highlight which marketing strategies that you are using that are bringing traffic, you could be sharing your post on many social media website but only few of them bring in traffic, those are the social media website that you should focus on more going on. Thanks for your comment.

  18. You addressed important points in the post. One thing you said that I’ll also try to emphasize is that most people want traffic no matter where it is coming from. Automated traffic, automated twitter followers, automated facebook likes. Very soon, real people will start leaving the blog.

    1. Hello Olumide,
The only people looking for automated traffic doesn’t care about their blogs and those kind kind never make money with their blogs because a machine counts can never pay you, right? Thanks for the add up and do have a great week ahead… 🙂
