Without wasting much of our time, here are the top 8 WordPress plugins that will definitely help you and your blogging career. Let’s start with the countdown…
8 WordPress Plugins to Take Your Blog to the Next Stage
The first on our list is none other than;
W3 total cache:
I am mentioning the W3 Total Cache plugin as my first choice because it helps in speeding up your blog.
Having a blog is great but what makes it awesome is when you start getting some serious amount of traffic coming in.
If you’ve started receiving more than 2000+ unique visitors per day, then installing the W3 Total Cache plugin is just the right choice for your blog.

But it’s not advisable to install the W3 Total cache plugin on a blog that has low traffic stat, why? It will only occupy space and make your blog run slow 🙂
How does W3 Total Cache Works? W3 Total Cache improves the user experience of your site by increasing server performance, reducing the download times and providing transparent content delivery network (CDN) integration
WordPress seo
I started using the WordPress Seo plugin some few months back after the review I did sometime this year. I’d say that WordPress Seo is a cool plugin that will definitely boost your site’s seo.
How does the WordPress SEO Plugin Works? WordPress SEO plugin helps in taking care of all the technical optimization you’ll need, like helping you write better content.
WordPress SEO also forces you to choose a focus keyword when you’re writing your articles, and then makes sure you use that focus keyword everywhere.
WordPress SEO is for the technical minds but thank God, you can find tutorials online on how to configure the plugin. But if the plugin is too technical for you, I also do recommend All in One SEO 🙂
Wp smush it
If you do use images to blog as most bloggers like myself do, then using the Wp smush it plugin might just be the best option to speed up your blog.
How Does Wp Smush it Works? Every image you add to a page or post will be automatically run through Smush.it behind the scenes. You don’t have to do anything different.
If you’re a blogger that have not started using the smush.it plugin, then you need to start using it now.
Sharethis
Here’s something, I can never mention plugins without mentioning the sharethis plugin, why? The sharethis plugin is just so awesome that you need to tryout. What I like about the plugin is, it comes with enough features for its free users.
How Does Sharethis Works? It increases your blog/site social activities. It gives you insight of your blog and which post gets the highest share (This helps you to write more engaging posts).
One other sweet thing about this is it protects your blog post from copy and paste bloggers by secretly adding a link back to your post. And you can easily see which sites that copied your content(s)
Wp review
A good friend introduced me to the Wp review plugin and I must say that the plugin is worth the install.
One thing I learned about the Wp Review plugin is, it helps the product you’re reviewing get more visibility on search engines.
How Does Wp review Works? The Wp review plugin gives you an easier way to create review for your contents without affecting the speed of your site. You can score your review using Star, percentage or even points 🙂

Revive old post
Due to the nature of my job, I do find it hard to promote my blog posts as I used to. But thank God, I can now promote my blog contents automatically without any stress using the Revive old post plugin.
One thing I love about this plugin is, you have the choice to set how often you want your blog post to be publish on your social network.
How Does Revive old post Plugin Works? The Revive Old Post plugin helps you to keep your old posts alive by sharing them and driving more traffic to them from social networks.
Wp Optimize
I hate slow sites because it consumes my hard earn data :). And I’m sure you do too, right? The Wp optimize plugin helps you and your blog achieve clean structure.
I love the WP Optimize plugin because it has so many functions. And because of this awesome WordPress plugin, I have stopped visiting my Database more often.
How Does Wp Optimize Works? It easily helps you clean your post revisions, repair your database tables and more… with just a click away.
With this, you don’t have to go through your database to get some issues solved.
Better links
I have used the better links plugin since January 2014 till this day and I must say that I am loving every moment with the plugin. If you’re an aspiring affiliate, you’re going to love this plugin.
How Does Better links Plugin Works: Without stress or manually doing of redirect, you can easily create a customized url shortner with your blog’s name.
To make the story more interesting, you can easily track how many clicks each of the links you created gets. Sounds awesome right?

All in one seo is awesome and suitable for non-techie and the expert bloggers.

Hi Babanature,
Wonderful list of WordPress plugins, and I think I use some of them 🙂
Yes, most of these are essential and I’ve just heard of Revive Old Post plugin too, and would be giving it a try, though it would be good as you’ve been using it earlier. The rest, I’d be passing along to my admin to check out 😉
Thanks for sharing. Have a nice weekend 🙂

Unfortunately, WP Smush.it doesn’t work for blogs/sites that use HTTPS. They should do something about that, especially now when many blogs/sites have switched to HTTPS since Google announced that such feature is a ranking signal.
Good post!
Hello Dwight,
Really? Didn’t know about the https with smush it. Maybe because i haven’t thought of going the https rout 🙂
Thanks for your observation, it is well noted.
Do have a wonderful weekend
Hi there Babanature! 🙂 Plugins are the power houses of a successful WordPress blog. Using good ones will definitely MAKE your life easier, so also; utilizing bad ones can MAR your blog. The list you gave contains very vital and useful plugins. Ive used most of them in the past. Just hearing about WP review for the first time though…… Will definitely give it a try. Thanks for the post, and have a lovely weekend ahead 😉
Hello Kay,
It is good that you find the post useful enough to make a comment 🙂
Trust me, you are going to love the WP review when you try it out
Thanks for stopping by and dropping your comment, do have a wonderful weekend.
I personally don’t agree with the ShareThis suggestion. While having ShareThis, Addthis, or any other third party sharing tools does allow you to have social analytics, it hurts load time and adds more tracking.
Something that is becoming more common with users is they are becoming more careful with what cookies, and other items are loading as they are being built into antivirus programs…
Therefore, try using HTML buttons with CSS sprites as opposed to the JavaScript… Remember more complex websites are going to load slowly, for instance, my website is more complex in terms of JavaScript and therefore I need to reduce the amount of scripts I can’t control (IE ShareThis)
Hello Scott,
Hmm… i am using the sharethis plugin and i am not seeing any negative result as per my blog speed. well it may be your observation but many popular blogs do use these social plugins… and i can see that you are using one as well 🙂
Anyways, thank you for stopping by and dropping your observation, we sincerely appreciate.
Do have a blissful weekend over there

Hey man,
Nice write. Just want to add about Smush It. If you are using a shared hosting, I don’t suggest installing it. It takes a chunk load of resources and imagine having 50 peeps doing that at the same time.
The web based smush it works better in this case 🙂

Happy New Year 😉
I think this is my first visit to your blog since the year kicked in. It’s been quite busy adding stuffs to broadeNet, posting and guesting posting, replying to comments and handling offline stuff 😉
Now, you have some really cool plugins here. I however took down W3TC for a paid option which does even better with just 3 clicks.
Smushit is a powerful image optimizing plugin I highly encourage.
Let me add broadedNet and MyCommentAuthors plugins on the list. They are all traffic plugins wp bloggers should not neglect.
Thanks for another wonderful day man
Happy New Year once more!
Revive old posts! Brilliant. I’ve been trying to do this manually and it’s an absolute nightmare. Thanks for the great find Babanature
I use Duplicator both to pull copies of a client’s existing website for redevelopment work to my development VM, and then to push a copy of a new or redesigned website to client’s hosting — especially if I don’t have SSH access and the ability to do a git push.
I think i have started using most of these plugins and they very profitable; wordpress optimize and better links are awesome. thanks for the list.
This is awesome tip. Every blogger should take care of these mentioned. Thank u dude. This sounds great.
