Top 3 Smart Ways to Monetize Your Blog

Blogging in recent years has come out as a big booming field over internet. Initially blogging was a platform that was known to only a few people and this platform was used to express views, opinions and thoughts. There were only a few bloggers in the world who were very passionate about writing. But time has changed now, today a blog is much more than a piece of great content and blogging is much more than a passion. Now people use this platform for a lot of things. These days blogging is used for many purposes as we all know. For example – to make money online, to promote different product and services, to generate online business etc..

So, a money or a profit factor is now attached to blogging. People are now blogging for money and profit. This trend is growing very fast and a lot of people are now interested to blog for money or to generate business.

When we talk about setting up a blog and writing articles, this part is not that pain or that much harder. After little practicing in WordPress can make you expert in this. You can create a website in just 5 to 10 minutes and submitting articles is also very easy. After you create a website and start posting articles on a daily basis your next job is to promote your site with the help of S.E.O, S.M.O, sometimes S.E.M as well. You start learning these techniques by reading expert blogs in this field and start practicing. But the main hurdle comes to a lot of blogging beginners is that they fail in earning money.

Why they fail in making some decent money?

To my observation they are not able to monetize their blog efficiently. Yes, a lot of bloggers fail in monetizing their blog. They manage to get traffic but traffic is of no use if you can’t make money out of it.

So, my approach here is to make you aware to understand which blog should be monetized by which monetizing program. Here I will share three well-known monetizing platforms that will help you in deciding how you should monetize your blog. Let us see what are these three monetizing programs.

Top 3 ways to monetize your blog

1. Google AdSense

This is one of the very well-known and most recommended monetizing program that you can use to monetize your blog. Usually beginners use this program in their blog but they don’t know if this program is good for their particular blog or not.

What kind of blog goes well with Google AdSense?

Google AdSense can be used in any kind of blog but the most effective use of Google AdSense is on a blog which is having a targeted niche of keywords that have high CPC. So, if your blog niche is on Health, insurance, make money, or any other high CPC specific niche, then you must use Google AdSense because these are some of the very high CPC niches.

2. Affiliate marketing

Affiliate marketing is another great option to monetize a blog. All you need to do is join an affiliate marketing site and promote product or services. There are two well-known sites which are at the top in this industry – Clickbank.com and Cj.com. Here you can find hell lot of products to promote on your blog.

What kind of blog goes well with affiliate marketing?

A blog which is related to reviews or product, is the best to try affiliate marketing or can say affiliate marketing is the best monetizing option for this kind of blog.

Let us take an example, suppose you have blog niche “photography” and you share things about “cameras and techniques” then you can easily monetize your blog with some camera affiliate and promote these kind of product to make good commissions on sales.

I personally believe these kind of blogs make more money as compared to the blogs that are monetized with Google AdSense.

3. Sell your own Products

Selling your own product is the most profitable blog monetizing idea that you can apply to your blog. With Google AdSense, you have to share 65 percent of the revenue with Google, in affiliate marketing you only get some commissions. But when you sell your own products on your blog the whole 100% profit goes to your pocket.

What kind of blogs are best to sell your own product?

You can make and sell your own products in which you are a master of. Suppose you have done MBA and you are master in the subjects. So, you can write a Book or create some series of Videos on Subjects for preparation of MBA and sell them to the people who are interested. Which means these products will make sure that people who will buy this product will get benefit from it.

This is just an example, the main motive to share with you is that if you can create some product or can provide some service then promoting through your blog is the best option. As mentioned earlier 100% profit goes to your profit.

Over To You

Hi Shorya, and welcome to Babanature’s blog!

It’s good to see you after a long time, and I think you have a new blog (as mentioned in your bio above), which means you’ve been working all this while :)

Yes indeed, you mentioned the best ways people can make money from their blogs, something that I still have to do. I do use a few of Google Adsense, but that’s about all. I’ve never ventured into Affiliates, nor do I have any product to see of my own. But yes, through my blog, I’m approached for freelancing work, so that helps being a writer.

Thanks for sharing these with us. Have a nice week, both of you :)

Nice one. Though am close to getting approved by google adsense, but a disorganization just occur in my blog. I have not been able to blog since weeks now, even when there are post ready to be shared. But that doesn’t mean I give up on blogging. (who said that?).

Getting back on track, I will go for google adsense and affiliate marketing…. Products to come up as time goes on.

    Hi Shorya
These are some great ways to make money for sure.
But as you say, you do have to pay attention to what kind of blog can really support each type of money making. For example if you do not have traffic, then adsense does not really help. Also, if you are displaying ads for your competition, then perhaps you are losing more readers than the money for one click is worth.
We have to be careful indeed.
    thanks for posting

      Hi InYavic,

Thanks for mentioning ad spaces. Actually as i said there are thousands of way to monetize a blog i haven’t started selling ad space so didn’t know much about it.

But one thing i know is that for selling ad spaces you need to have big traffic to your site. But with all of the above mentioned things , if you can get few but targeted visitors to your site you can make good money. I can say that because i don’t get much of the traffic to my blog but i get traffic that are highly targeted and i make decent money out of it.

Thanks for sharing the words. Keep in Touch.

      Hi Enstine,

Thanks Enstine for giving your opinion, Ya also believe that adsense for a new establishing blog is not a good idea but many bloggers do that even i also started with google adsense when i was getting only 100 visits per day , LOL. But yes if you are specifically target some High CPC keywords and able to collect some visitors then google adsense can give you good results.

      Keep in touch Bro!

The most profitable way to earn money online is via “selling your own ebook”, yes is hard task when you create one, you need to be an expert in a field, because if you are you know what it works and what it doesn’t, also you have proofs it works because you personally tested. Does people buy ebooks from experts? Yes they do and with some marketing strategies really great income can be achieved.

    Hi SHORYA Bist,
i love the best monetization ways you listed, because they are really and reliable. it’s very easy to sell your own product if you know your targeted audience. But the problem i’m having now is which affiliate marketing site is the best? Nevertheless, in recent time i’ve not seen anybody who have been accepted into adsense network with the normal mode, adsense either give you one excuse or the order. i believe we should just stick with the other two options above. Less i forget, selling ad spaces has been really working for me anyway. Thanks for this wonderful article.

All good tips Shorya. I have 1 and 2 down, might be adding 3….we will see ;)

Whatever your approach create massive value and make friends with leading bloggers to monetize your blog effectively. These are the real secrets because getting them down helps you make money online through any channel.

    Thanks for sharing!

I couldn’t have agreed more Baba,
Those are really some good ways through which one can make some $$$$$ with his blog.

But in my own opinion, the best and the one I will always recommend is creating and selling your own products, nothing beats that.

Affiliate marketing can be very good also but, you can’t compare it with having your own products.

Thanks for sharing man and, happy weekend.

Awesome post I must comment! Its not really about the ways to monetize a blog but the best take about this post is the explanations of what kind of blog goes well with each monetization.

If a blogger can learn and apply what works well for a particular website then it becomes easier to become successful for blogging. Thanks SHORYA for this awesome and practical post, it is very helpful!

    Hi Shorya,
You have explained the best methods to monetize. No doubt Google AdSense is major income source for most of the bloggers but they should also need to focus other earning methods. Currently am focusing on affiliate marketing and article writing and both of these methods are working awesome for me ;) .

    Hello Shorya,

I cannot but agree that the list you’ve got is not only genuine, it indicates the best ways of monetizing a blog.

You mentioned Adsense, selling your own products and affiliate marketing. What about selling direct ad space? It’s a great idea too, especially if you’ve got a great alexa rank and some good traffic.

    Do have a great day!

    Hello,

Well no doubt google adsense is the best monetization for blog’s to earn handsome money but during these months their approval is becoming very hard and without any reasons they are disabling the accounts only for a reason “Invalid Activity”.

So I think affiliate marketing will be the best strategy for earn money from blogging.

    Thanks

    • says

      Hi Vicky,

I think both are easy and both are completely difficult. But here the topic is which monetizing techniques goes well with which kind of blog. Sometimes a blog niche is good for adsense so it might wont go well with affiliate and sometimes Vise verca. So there is not any thing like that the adsense is good or affiliate is good.

    Hi Shorya,
Making money online is every blogger’s dream but how to go about it is the problem.

Going with Adsense, one must have high paying keywords.
Affiliate marketing on the other involves a lot of hardworking and working smart.

    • says

      Hi Emmanuel,

Thanks for sharing your views over the topic. I think it is not like that the making money is so hard with adsense and affiliate . It just need good working experience and patience. If you ask any big online celebrity ” if making money with adsense or affiliate marketing is too hard” , They will definetly say no because they have played every angle of it and now making money with this is a game for them.

      Best of Luck!

    Hi Shorya,

Google Adsense? I don’t know. I think for some people works. When I searched the Net, the dominant tone is negative. It seems you can make money with Adsense but rather nickels than dollars.

A blog which is related to reviews or product. Yes. I think this would be a very good blog for affiliate marketing. I will think about this idea.

Your products? This seems the best way to make money. The hard part is to make your first product. Then everything is much easier.

    Hi Shorya,

Welcome to Babanature’s blog and you definitely shared a topic that most people are eager to learn. How to monetize their blogs and make some money.

I’m going to be honest with you, I hate Google Adsense. I hate going to a blog and having ads throughout the post. I also hate the ad at the top of the post that makes me immediately think it’s the photo to that particular post. So deceiving but that’s really a serious turn off for me. I know a lot of people really love running them but that’s just a pet peeve of mine.

I do affiliate marketing but I mostly do it on other sites instead of my main blog. I do have a resource page that I share with my readers products that I use because I’m always asked.

I’m sort of creating my own product but I got seriously derailed during the year. I do think if you want to make a name for yourself that you definitely need a product.

Great share so thank you and hope you both have a wonderful week.

Thanks adriene for sharing your view over the topic. Ya i know many people just hate Google adsense but you can not neglect the fact that many people are monetizing their blog so well with it that they are making full time income from that only source.

As i said in my post that it depends what kind of blog you have. Till now i am using both Google adsense and affiliate programs but they are on both different kind of blogs, and both are going good with me.

Keep in touch, have a nice day.

You need some serious traffic and click through rate.
To me being an affiliate of product or service that I own and use everyday; something I really believe in is KEY. That’s what I promote, that’s what makes money for me at least.
