All in One SEO Vs WordPress SEO By Yoast: Which do you prefer

The prayer of most bloggers (if not all), is to get their blog post(s) ranked on Google first page. We all know the benefit of getting ranked high on Google search, right? But in case you don’t, we are doing all what we can to get ranked because it brings in loads of traffic which is equal to increase sales.

all-in-one-seo-and-yoast

Before the last Google update, getting your blog ranked high on Google search take skills and expertise. Why I said that? Because only bloggers/ website owners who practice SEO (Search Engine Optimization) can manipulate their way of getting ranked in Google. But thank God today, Google have made it possible for us who do not practice SEO to also get ranked easily. Did I hear you say how? With large social presence and a well engaging blog 🙂 . For none SEO expert it looks simple, right?

In the WordPress front there are two “most popular” plugins that can make you rank well in Google search without you stressing yourself that much. People like us who don’t do advance SEO use these plugins to ease our stress in making our blog rank well on Google search. And what are the names of these plugins? All In One SEO and WordPress SEO by Yoast…

What both plugin actually does is – they simply take care of all the technical optimization for you. Like they “choose a focus keywords” for your posts so that you can rank on that particular “phrase” or keyword in Google search. And many many many more…

All in One SEO Vs WordPress SEO By Yoast: Which do you prefer

On my today’s post, we shall be discussing some of their many features and also you guys will tell me which of the plugin you use and or prefer.

So… without wasting much of our time, let’s jump to our first talk.

All in One SEO

All in one SEO is one of WordPress oldest SEO plug-gins around. It is a very effective seo plug-in and has been downloaded over seventeen million times (17million+) and still counting…

I love All in One SEO because of the features it has and the advance options it gives to its users for free. Now let’s talk more why the All in One SEO is so popular, shall we?

(According to its developer)…

It automatically generates Meta tags. It saves you the stress to manually inserting them to your blog.

If you are that smart kind, you can override any title and set any META description and any META keywords you want.

It has a Built-in API so other plugins/themes can access and extend functionality

It helps you avoids the typical duplicate content found on WordPress blogs

For beginners, you don’t even have to look at the options because it works out-of-the-box. Just install.

For advanced users, you can fine-tune everything to optimize your SEO

Ohhh… did I mention that All in One SEO plugin is the only plugin to provide SEO Integration for WP e-Commerce sites?

All in One SEO can do all that and even more… no wonder is has a large user base

Now that you have heard it from the developers mouth what the All in One SEO can do, now let’s move on to the other SEO plugin.

WordPress SEO By Yoast

For me, Yoast SEO plug-in is one of the faster growing SEO plugin ever. With just a short period, Yoast have been downloaded more than eight million times (8 million+) and still counting…

WordPress SEO by yoast has so many cool and rich feature that you will definitely love as well.

(According to its developer)…

It helps you write a better and SEO friendly content.

It checks and analyzes your blog for seo

It optimizes your RSS so you won’t get out ranked by scrappers

Since social media is the big thing now, It  easily add Facebook opengraph and soon, they will be adding the Google+ sharing tag, aint that awesome?

Are you that techie kind? Then they have room for advance users. You can optimize the settings to sooth your need.

Are you the non-techie kind? It works out of the box, but truth be told you still need some tweak here and there 🙂

  1. Hi Babanature,

That’s a wonderful post with the comparison of both plugins 🙂

I did try all in one SEO but then switched to Yoast and haven’t really being doing much with it. Yes, with SEO taking a backseat and not being used the way it was, I wonder if both of these would really help us as compared to our content, which sometimes ranks when we use NO SEO at all! How does that happen I wonder?

I haven’t gone ahead and seen all the features of Yoast as you mentioned as yet, though I need to take out time to do that to make full us of it, especially FB Opengrapgh and all those things. However, Yoast always suggests to use keywords I think more than what we should be using, unless they’ve updated the version lately, which I doubt, so that’s something you need to be careful of I think.

Thanks for sharing. Have a nice week ahead 🙂

    1. Hello Harleena,

Yes, you are right, sometimes we rank higher on post we do little or know seo on. But hey, Google works in a mysterious ways, right? 🙂
Our blog is great and even if we don’t do SEO, it will still rank good. I’d say that the plugin is just a little adding to help boost our blog.
Thanks for stopping by and dropping your lovely comment. Do have a blessed weekend

  2. I like All In One SEO Pack and to be honest I love this plugin, in all my sites I use it, I didn’t tried YOAST and don’t plan to because I’m happy with this one, so easy to use.

Kind regards, see you next time Babanature!

PS: I’d like to see a way to give FB Like to your articles instead of share on FB. And I think many would prefer this.

    1. Hello Daniel ,
All in one seo plugin is indeed a good seo plugin. It is good that you made your choice.

There is a Facebook like at the side bar of my blog. But since you don’t see it, i’ll have to add another below the post 🙂
Thanks for your thought on this post, do have a best weekend.

      1. Dear Babanature I think you don’t understand correct what I mean, I want to see easy to use facebook like post button instead of share button you have at the end of post, in the sidebar are follow buttons. Kind regards!

        1. Hello Daniel, i perfectly understand you… In the sidebar (by your left hand side) i have a floating share button They are all like buttons. But the buttons on my right hand side is the follow button. If you want to like, you can click the floating button located by the left hand side.
But i will put another like button at the end of the post if you’re not seeing the floating bar 🙂

          1. Just checked and you right they are there however on my end don’t show up as it should, show up a part of them, I did a modification to zoom browser and when is 90% it shows correct, don’t add another buttons I’ll buy very soon a new monitor (bigger) and this problem should disappear and I’ll be able to facebook like your posts using floating like plugin.

Sorry to bother you my friend, have a wonderful day!

            1. Ahahah.. Daniel, I have already adding the like button below my post… and no need to change your monitor buddy. The button will be live on my next post. So please bear with me… I know others might be facing the same problem as you
Thanks and do have a good weekend once more…

    2. Hey Babanature,

I like the way you distinguished the both of these. I haven’t used SEO by Yoast but I do have installed the All In One SEO plugin. I haven’t don’e a lot with it but seeing what you described here about it, I may have to take a better gander at it. For plugins like this, this would be a great advantage to those that aren’t as techie since they each pick a “Keyword” within your content in order for you to rank.

I also have the SEOpress installed. What I like about this is that it teaches you what you need to do to your content in order for it to be more SEO ready. Thanks for sharing the difference between the two plugins! I really had no idea on the difference!

      1. Hello Sherman,
SEO Pressor is also a nice seo plugin and works well as all in one seo and yoast.
I am sure it is working well for you as you said 🙂
Thanks for stopping by and dropping your comment. Do have a peaceful weekend

    3. Both SEO plugin are just too okay, they just have there ways of operation.

It’s true that All in one SEO plugin is easy and cool, especially when working with meta tags.

Yoast SEO plug-in, although complex and difficult to place the right things in order. It provides the opportunity to set description for social networks apart from the default one.

I prefer Yoast SEO plug-in… Thanks for sharing babanature.

      1. Hello Miracle,
Yoast is a great seo plugin, but it need proper configuration. And for a non techie, it will be difficult to setup. But aside that, Yoast seo plugin is also good.
Thanks for dropping your thought and do have a good weekend ahead

      2. I agreed with you Miracle. All in one SEO plugin us not just good but great and I used it in two of my site. It is so easy to use than anybody get familiar with it. As I believe that old is gold. Featured of All in one seo that I like most is meta tags. That’s true that yet not tried yoast but I never want to do that as I am happy with this plugins.

    4. Babanture, I love YOAST SEO, it is not easy to always to adjust but once you get it right, it is awesome!. I had Reginald Chan help me once on Google+ to set mine up correctly. I love how it works with the Facebook posts and Twitter cards. It really is great for social sharing as well as SEO. I highly recommend it!

      1. Hello Lisa,
It is good to know that you had somebody like Reginald Chan to take a look and setup your YOAST plugin. To be honest, a non-techie bloggers will find it hard to use. But hey it is an awesome seo plugin 🙂
Thank you for your contribution to the post, it is indeed appreciated. Do have a blessed weekend

    5. Hey Babanature,

Well that was a really good comparison.

I use to use All In One SEO until I realized that Thesis had it’s own built in function and you know me, I don’t want anymore plugins then I have to have so I said bye bye. So because I do have Thesis I don’t need an additional plugin although Yoast has more functions to it then just the SEO part. I’ve thought about testing it out but I just haven’t gotten around to it.

Thanks though for sharing this and it’s a reminder that I need to look into that again.

      Happy Valentine’s Day!

      ~Adrienne

      1. Hello Adrienne,

I also see that Genesis has an inbuilt seo functions as well. That means both Thesis and Genesis are indeed awesome.
But i still do believe that there are some things the All in one or Yoast are doing that the theme inbuilt seo functions don’t give, like the OpenGraph…

Thanks for stopping by and dropping your comment’s do have a blessed weekend…
And happy Valentine to you as well dear friend

    6. I successfully configured YOAST through the aid of a post on Google search… It was very tedious compared to All in One… But it is worth it, cos of the seo analysis it do give.

      1. Hello Nehemiah,
It is god to know that you have configured the Yoast seo plugin very well. As you said, Yoast is for the techie inclined but with directions, you can beat it through.
Thanks for the comment and do have a good weekend.

    7. I am not used WordPress just started since last one month. Earlier I am using Google Blogger. Till date I used few of WordPress Plugins.. I am using All in One SEO and All in One Webmaster. Can you tell me from your end which is the best All in one SEO or Yoast.? Personal Experience.

    8. LET ME BE BLUNT.
Between the two, it is SEO by YOAST. I used to use both while I was using WordPress. Now that I am moving back to WP, I would go for YOAST. Anyway, I’m planning on checking out SEOpressor, That Premium SEO plugin. I think it might beat both.

But when free is considered, YOAST all the way!

    9. Thanks Babanature, this comparison has been going around in the blogosphere for a while. Well, I have not really tried out all in one SEO but I have had a very good results with Yoast SEO plugin.

And I believe is still the WordPress SEO plugins to beat. It remind you of so many things to do while writing your post and let’s you know if something is not done right.

The social aspect of it is really awesome.
      Thanks for sharing this.

      1. Hello Shamsudeen,

Yoast is one exciting seo plugin for the tech minded bloggers and bloggers who love doing seo extensively..

Thanks for your contribution on the post at hand. it was indeed appreciated.
Do have your self a good weekend

    10. Hello Babanature,

While these plugins are great, you may easily land yourself on the rough side of Google and may be penalized if you follow them 100%.

I was using WP SEO by Yoast and believe me, for a 1000 worded entry, it argued that my keyword density of 12 was too low! That made me to overstuff and ultimately never even ranked well.

Secondly, if you are to follow those plugins, you write your entry for search engines and Google has been shouting user experience since…how on earth are you going to rank?

I have stopped using both and believe me, the highest source of my traffic is Google! However, I must tell you that I know exactly how to write great content that attracts search engines.

      Always,
      Terungwa

      1. Hello Akaahan,
You are right about that. You don’t need to do what the seo plugin say. They are just suggestions 🙂
Well All in one SEO doesn’t advice on such, they just help you place keywords.

I don’t do seo and don’t think i will be doing it anytime soon, but the plugins do come in handy most times.
Thanks for stopping by and dropping your thoughts on this, do have yourself a wonderful week ahead…

    11. Wow! These are really great and nice plugins for your wordpress blog, though i’m not on wordpress but think i prefer the “All In One SEO” but trying Yoast isn’t a bad idea

    12. I have used both, and I like them both (Right now, I use Yoast).

I honestly don’t remember why I switched over to Yoast…probably because of some issues with All-in-one? Or was it peer pressure? So many bloggers were recommending Yoast, so I might have just followed their suggestion?

In any case, both of them are really good plugins (of course, they do differ a little, in terms of functions. I find the current version of Yoast a bit more useful).

It doesn’t matter anyways, at least not to met. I don’t pay much attention to SEO. Sure, I do the basic optimization, but that’s according to the post..I prefer not to edit the post for the sake of SEO.

Anyways, thank you for the question, Babanature 🙂 Hope you had a wonderful weekend!

    13. Hi Babanature,

      Interesting post!
I liked your idea to compare the two plugins.

I use both of these plugins, All In One SEO Pack and Yoast. However, I can not tell which one is the best because I think both are good and have their respective advantages 😉

Thanks for sharing this article, Babanature.
I think this is a good topic for discussion.

      Regards,
      Nanda

    14. Hello Babanature,

wonderful post!!! Really it is so helpful. I was confused that which should I use for my blog. Finally I am using All In One SEO Pack. I think both are good and effective for SEO.

Thank you for sharing with details.

    15. when i install this plugin then it is asking for “You’ve just installed WordPress SEO by Yoast. Please helps us improve it by allowing us to gather anonymous usage stats so we know which configurations, plugins and themes to test with” Allow Tracking or not, what should i do,
      Allow tracking or not.

    16. I use both plugins or various sites, and they both have Prons and Cons. Yoast is perfect to edit some .htaccess files, review your content if you write large posts. One of my sites are more photos than text, so the all in one seo plugin is for that one the best. I don’t think there is a plugin that have it all. There are more factors that count to have a great website and it is not only a seo plugin.

@Karan Singh “Allow Tracking” I always turn that off

    17. Hello Babanature,
      Really nice and Clean post
from 2 Years i am using all in one SEO pack but now YOAST SEO plugin famous for SEO . but still i love in all in one SEO Plugin .
      but both Plugin is best
      thanx for this post
      Happy Blogging
