7 Major Reasons Why I Love And Use WordPress

Let me do some basic introduction of WordPress. Okay, WordPress has been around since May 27 2003. Many of us don’t even know the names of the founders of WordPress anymore. Well, my job is to remind you.  Their names are Matt Mullenweg and Mike Little. WordPress started as a blogging system but over the years it has dramatically evolved to be used as a full content management system and much more through its functionalities and versatilities.  There’s obviously no limit to what you can achieve as a blogger using a WordPress platform. Albeit, there’s one limit and that is your imagination.

In my recent studies about WordPress, I discovered some amazing facts about this great platform. It was reported that WordPress runs over 66 million websites. Isn’t that amazing? And amongst these sites are CNN, NBC Sports, TED, Forbes, TechCrunch, OneNaijaBlog, Aha!NOW, and many more Authority Blogs. And have you ever wondered how many plugins are there in the WordPress Plugin Directory? Well, it was stated that there are about 19,000 of them and counting. Who knows whether tomorrow I might decide to create one myself? You never can tell :).

Okay, I’ve been talking too much, right? Let’s get to today’s topic…..

7 Major Reasons Why I Love And Use WordPress

Easy to use – Blogspot or perhaps Tumblr users, and host of other blogging platform users, would find it pretty difficult to agree with me on this as they felt blogger or there platforms are simpler but fact is the easiest website editor on the web today is WordPress. I don’t know if there would be another one but for now WordPress still is the easiest and the best. I mean if you can use Microsoft word, set up a twitter account or send mails effectively then you can of course use WordPress. It is that simple. Believe me, I have tried and tested it and yes it worked.

Manageability Option – As WordPress is easy to set up and operate so it is to manage. I hope you know there’s difference between the word “operate” and “manage”. Again, you might not agree but in Sam Adeyinka’s Dictionary, it is obviously different. The other day a guy was asking me about how WordPress works and I remember telling him that WordPress is a browser-based platform and he was like WOW, are you serious?! I said yes, and you can login from any internet connected computer and manage your site. I even use my mobile to update my articles and pull some tricks sometimes.

Great for SEO Optimization – WordPress is good for SEO optimization. It has a clean platform and all search engines love it, especially Google.com. This basically means there’s every possibility of your site making it on the first page of Google’s results, which in turn will help people in finding your site with more ease.

No HTML Editing or PHP Knowledge Required – You don’t need to be some sort of nerd, that is, you don’t have to know HTML, PHP and stuffs like that to be able to use WordPress effectively. No! It’s very simple and makes life easier for everyone of us using it. However, it will be a plus if you know this coding skills.

Plugins – One thing that makes me to be a diehard fan of WordPress is the fact that it has many different plugins that will further aid one’s success as a blogger. Plugins such as Twitter Feed, Facebook Fan Page, Top Commentators, CommentLuv, Short Author Bio, Social Media Sharing, Photo Slideshows. Seriously the list of the plugins in the WordPress plugin directory is almost endless! Can I keep a secret with you? Are you sure you won’t tell anyone? Okay, truth is I’m a lover of plugins! And I can’t do without using some of them.

Flexible Design – WordPress is 100% customizable and it’s very easy to use. You can set up the layout of your site, that is, where you want a particular widget or plugin to be placed on your blog surface area. You can have different layouts on different pages. Again, your only limit is your imagination. You can search and install as many themes as you want. You can install many different widgets as well. WordPress is the best guys! I’m serious, all you need do is giving it a try and your life will never remain the same.

Its Support is Breathtaking – Sometimes as a beginner, we might find ourselves in the shackles of not knowing what to do and how to go about installing some particular plugins, or how to better customize our blog, and host of other problems pertaining to our weblogs. With WP Support you can be sure of a great support as its Forum is ever alive and ready to help in all spheres of your blogging needs. The community is ever active, as a matter of fact, just some few months ago I still made my way to the forum, to get a solution on a particular problem and the rest is history.

That’s it, 7 major reasons why I use WordPress as my blogging platform. Trust me the only blogging platform I’d ever use in my life time as a blogger will be WordPress because it is the best and will always be the best.

  1. Hi Sam, and welcome to Babanature’s blog – it surely is good to see you here 🙂

Oh yes…WordPress IS an awesome platform and for the very reasons you mentioned here. Although I started both my blogs on Blogger 4 years back, but once I was told and learnt that WordPress has these benefits, I was quick to switch over.

But yes, I lost a lot of comments and the social media button counts too, even though I was careful of switching over. However, it was still worth it because I ust had 35 posts online when I made the switch, and then there was no looking back.

Although WordPress is good, but those who use Blogger feel that’s better and it’s got a little of the Google advantage, perhaps that’s why some of our friends have a blog each one WordPress, and also on Blogger, isn’t it?

I am one person who is pretty bad with codes, so anything that is easy works better for me, and I’m glad for the plugin, themes, and most importantly CommentLuv, which people at Blogger can’t have, and something we all love.

Thanks for sharing. Have a nice week, both of you 🙂

    1. Hey Queen Harleena,

Thanks for stopping by as always to read Babanature’s blog and for dropping this valuable comment.

Yes, a lot of us started blogging with platforms such as blogger and stuffs like that. For example, I use Tumblr and Blogger but I hate to admit that I didn’t like them just as our beloved WordPress.

Aha.. Sometimes I wonder why people still fall head over heels for blogspot. Well, it all falls back to the adage that says “One man’s food is another man’s poison”.

Thanks once again Harleena, I do appreciate your comment.

Do have yourself a fulfilled week:)

      Sam

  2. Nice post Sam!

  3. Yea. To me, wordpress is simply ann amazing platform. Does not require much technical knowledge as some other platforms. Although other great platform are being built, but i still prefer the wordpress to others for now.

    1. Hi Robinson, welcome to Babanature’s blog, its nice to see you here.

Of course, its the best ever. I’ve tried about three or four platforms since I became s Blogger and the most platform I totally reckon with was/is WordPress.

Ahm…that true and like you said, I too prefer using wordpress to any other platform. However, if any of the platform that are being built should surpass today and the benefits are mouthwatering. Why not? Imma port from wordpress but unfortunately none for now.

Thanks again for the read and comment. I do appreciate.

      Enjoy:)

      Sam

  4. Hi Sam,
I’m tempted to believe this is one post replying to Antonio with respect to why he loves blogger.com
Your punch lines aren’t that strong at all. All those points are vague! No matter what others say, Blogger.com still reign supreme.
Mind you, I’m on wordpress myself but blogger.com tops all!

    1. Hey Mr. Emmy, trust you are good. Its nice to see you here.

Hmm…I understand you and what I’d like to say to that is that we all have the way we view certain things. And here are just some of the reasons why I love and use wordpress. Thanks for your kind observation boss.

Do have yourself a lovely week:)

    1. Hey Sumanth,

  5. this topic is an interesting one and one that has been debated over and over again.the simple truth still remain;go for whichever that suit you best.Generally blogger is the best for a beginner and a novice to blogging;in terms of functionality wp is superb but those functions can still be meet in blogspot if you know little of HTML and css

    1. Hi Osasumwen, and good to see you here at Babanature’s great blog.

I love your views and its true that one should stick to whatever works for best for him.

Speaking bout which platform is the best, its very obvious that wordpress is the best. And that blogger is the best for a beginner… I partly take that idea in but I’d say any newbie blogger who quickly wants to succeed in the blogosphere should deploy to using wordpress instead of any other platform. There’s a friend of mine who started blogging in June 2013 this year and has quickly made his mark and even got a press mention on BizSuccessGuide, I’m talking bout Adesanmi Adedotun.

Anyways, thanks for your lovely contribution boss. You must know I really appreciate.

Do have a magical week 🙂

      Sam

  6. Wonderful Write up!. Although I agree with you that you don’t need to have knowledge of HTML or PHP to use wordpress, I believe if your design must stand out, you need such knowledge.

Nowadays, most bloggers use the same types of theme and trust me only those that understand HTML and PHP go an extra mile to make theirs look totally different from that of others.

    1. Hey Ugee my man, and welcome to Babanature’s Blog, it’s good to see you here 🙂

Yeah. That’s true, you don’t need to know HTML or PHP to be a better blogger but it will be a plus if you know it, and I think it was in the body of the text.

Aha…You made a nice point here bro and its something I totally agree with.

Thanks for sharing your thought and do have yourself a wonderful weekend 🙂

      Sam

  7. Hey Sam,

The only blogging platform I used is wordpress. I’ve used wordpress.com, and currently using wordpress, org. I agree with all of the points you made about wordpress.

The one thing I really like are all the plugins you can use. Both free and paid. It’s amazing of how much you can optimize your blog with these plugins. it makes it easier for you to draw in traffic, send to your autoresponders, syndicate your posts, and much much more.

Thanks for sharing these reasons! These reasons will give others validation that are interested in starting a blog!

    1. Hi bro Smith, glad to see you here 🙂

I’m so happy to meet with another wordpress enthusiast 🙂 WordPress is truly the best!

Literally, you also love plugins, right? You can do a lot of tricks with your blog using wordpress.

Thanks for the endorsement brother, glad to hear that.

Do have a magical Sunday ahead 🙂

      Sam

  8. Hi Sam,
I used Blogger platform when I started blogging. I was not aware of the greatness of WordPress. Later I shifted to it. The beauty lies in its features. The biggest advantage with WordPress is you don’t need to be a techno geek. Thanks for sharing insightful views with us.

    1. Hi brother Suresh, glad to see you here 🙂

Many of us started blogging with blogspot as we were made to believe it’s simplicity and crap’s like that. Yeah..the features are highly fantastic and its part of the reasons why most of us have come to love this great platform.

Sure bro, I have always been a believer of that too. You don’t need to be a geek to use WordPress. Capital NO!

I’m humbled bro and glad you liked it. Thanks for the read and your lovely comment. I truly appreciate.

Do have yourself a great weekend 🙂

      Sam

  9. Hi Babanature,

Easy to use? Yes. Easy to manage? Yes. Great for SEO? Yes.

No PHP knowledge or HTML editing required? I don’t think so. WordPress is full of bugs and security holes. They are constantly improving but new breaches appear.

What do you think, for example about that horrible pinging problem?
It seems that wordpress is pinging no matter what you do. They ping even before publishing your post. They ping at almost every action you do and you can be easily labelled as spammer.

In the beginning, yes you don’t need any html or php. Later, when you want to grow and create more cool stuff, you begin to see that you are somehow blocked by some limitations.

Plugins ? Yes but the more the worse. Flexible design? Why do we need themes?

    Have a nice day

    1. Hey Silviu, glad to see you here – the last time I saw you, it was on Sue’s blog where she complained to Harleena about your long comment. 🙂

I seriously am not sure if its me you want answers from or Babanature. “Hi Babanature”. (just kidding).

Aha…thanks for sharing your great views and speaking bout plugins, I think too much of its not healthy for our blogs. The last time I tried it, I blamed myself. Now I’m being careful even though I love them but I’m always praying not to be too tempted to install too much.

Again thanks for your comment boss – you are the best!

Do have a magical weekend 🙂

      Sam

  10. lol will this wordpress vs blogger war ever end. I use blogger. One thing I know is that if you’re good with coding, you’ll have a better design with wordpress. One other advantage is that the mobile format for wordpress is more flexible and customizable. But you can’t enjoy wordpress if you want a free blog…

    1. Hey Olymide’ and welcome to Babanature’s blog – its really good to see you here 🙂

I agree with your views and I say happy blogging with blogspot. But seriously, onething I know is, you spend money to get money. I have since concluded that those using blogspot blog with zero aim of making money. If you truly want to command respect in your field/niche, bro, u will have to re-consider and start using wordpress.

Now, I don’t know bout you, that is, whether you are making money or not but you must know that this post is written Majorly to preach the gospel of wordpress, what I love about and why I have decided to stick to it.

Well, thanks for stopping by bro and for expressing your views – have yourself a fantastic Sunday 🙂

      Sam

  11. Well hey there Sam!

Good to see you here at Babanature’s blog.

I have to agree with you, I love WordPress. I have user Blogger and Tumblr and although they are okay we all know that if you have a self-hosted WordPress blog then boy do you have a lot of flexibility.

If you buy a theme, and I use Thesis, you can do so much with them. The plug-ins just make things convenient and for the most part I love the looks.

Thanks for sharing with us what you love about it and hope you both have a wonderful weekend.

    ~Adrienne

    1. Hi Adrienne, I’m really overjoyed to see you here too 🙂

Yet Another Authority Blogger (YAAB) confirming that WordPress is the best!

Like seriously, Blogspot users, Tumble users, Jomlar, users and a host of other platforms users, what are you waiting for? Its time to port! And those of you who don’t have a blog yet, now is the time.

I’ve heard a lot of good stuffs about Thesis and have read a lot of reviews about it. I love Genesis though. Again, it all boils down to choice.

Thanks for the rea Queen Adrienne and for leaving your comment as always..x

Do have a magical Sunday 🙂

      Sam

  12. Hi Sam,

I once thought about this, why are the influential bloggers like John Chow, Matt Cutt, etc. prefer wordpress to blogger platform and I discovered it’s more user friendly than any other platform even blogger platform. I recently moved my blog from blogger to wordpress platform, and hoping for a better result, better than when I was on blogger platform.

    1. Hey Adesanmi, and welcome to Babanature’s blog – I’m so glad to see you here 🙂

Yeah..that’s right, its user friendly and every great bloggers uses it. Blogger is good but wordpress is great and the last time I checked, good is different from great and great is greater than good.

I’ve been meaning to congratulate you in your inclusion on Joseph’s blog on “Top 25 Nigerian bloggers to watch out for in 2014”. Congrats brother 🙂

Thanks for stopping by to comment brother, I do appreciate.

Do have a fulfilled weekend 🙂

  14. Hi Sam,
I have experience with both and I also love with blogger because seo of wordpress blog easy as plugins made it very easy and 404 error is also a big problem from bloggers blogs.

    1. Hey Saleem, I’m really ecstatic to see you her on my boss blog 🙂

Awwwh…guess we are even. Yeah, SEO is great on wordpress and plugins are a blogger’s best friend just as diamond are a girl’s best friend.

Who doesn’t hate to see “404 errors”? I hate to see it. Glad to read your views bro. Thanks!

Do have yourself a lovely weekend 🙂

  15. Hi Sam.
Well wordpress is the number one CMS in whole wide world. Currently 80 million blogs works on wordpress . It is easy to use and highly customizable. I am using wordpress for past 2 years and totally loved it. Earlier I used to make blog with Joomla. You can make dynamic site using Joomla but it is really vulnerable.
Thanks for the nice info. I am sure new blogger must learn something from this. 🙂

    1. Hey Ashi, and glad to see you here 🙂

  16. Inspiring post! I have a blogspot and a wordpress account. I have hardly used my wordpress. I’m intimidated by it and want to make it more of my serious blog. You know, I don’t want various ramblings on it about this and that. I want it to be organized and so forth. Anyway, I’m going to save the link to this blog for future reference. I was real excited with the layout of the wordpress blog and a little overwhelmed.

    Great post!

    1. Hey Linda, and welcome in here – its surely is nice to see you here 🙂

Wow that sounds good and I think its high time you get busy with your WordPress account. Trust me you will enjoy it cause its much easier to use than any other platform out there.

Aha…I understand you sister, it happens to all of us, I’m a good example. I left it for like two years before I came back – and have since been enjoying my life. Their support is really great.

Please let me know when you finally start working on it. Please ok.

You should have a magical weekend 🙂

      Sam

    1. Hey Samwhizzy, thanks for stopping by and for also leaving your comment. I do appreciate brother. You should have a great weekend 🙂

  18. Very good review of wordpress, Sam, and unique content, as I can’t recall having seen it discussed like this before. Thanks for delineating all of the “pros” for us.

Another good article content would be to contrast the pros and cons of wordpress itself (although I can’t think of any cons because I’m on the same page with you), and/or compare and contrast with wordpress.org with wordpress.com. http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/. Nice work, Sam!

    1. Hi Barry, and welcome to Babanature’s blog – it surely is nice to see you here 🙂

Awwwh…thanks for your kind words. I’m glad you liked it and thanks for the link – do have a wonderful day ahead brother 🙂

      Sam

  19. Hi Sam, Welcome to Babanature’s blog! I couldn’t agree with you more. I’m a big fan of WordPress too, especially the plugins. The control I get over my blog is fabulous. Each WordPress blog is unique, thanks to the customization.

You’re right about the advantage of WordPress being browser based. I am often on the go and appreciate the ability to manage my blog from my mobile device.

I also agree with Harleena, CommentLuv is another great reason to use WordPress!

    1. Hey Carolyn, Thanks and it surely is good to see you here.

Yeah WordPress gives you the dinstinctive opportunity to be a great blogger if well harnessed. I mean the flexibility and functionality is awesome and gives me joy every time I set to browse it.

I’m so glad to find yet another WordPress fan…and yeah, Harleena is dead right as Commentluv helps you to connect with other fantastic bloggers in your niche and outside it.

Thanks for stopping by to read, comment and tweeting me. Hat off!

Do have a lovely day ahead 🙂

      Sam

  20. Great post, Sam – I use WP for all the reasons you outline. I think the only drawback is the security issue – it appears WP sites are easy prey for determined hackers and spammers, so if you use it you have to pay a lot of attention to security issues, and the best solutions aren’t necessarily all free.

I also think plugins are a mixed blessing – there are far to many free ones that never get updated, and which can mess up your blog if you’re not careful.

Having said all that, I still love it 🙂

    Sue

    1. Hey Sue, What a great joy I have within me now at sighting your comment – it surely is nice to meet you here too 🙂

I think I second you on this one Sue… in fact, I take it in hook, line, and sinker. Those spammers are seriously devilish and if one is not careful, watchful, in fact prayerful, they will succeed in destroying one’s labour of building that great blog. Now, that is where plugins plays in. There lot and lot of plugins that can solve that headache though.

Aha…I agree with you. The last time I installed some outdated plugins,I regretted it and wished I had not found nor head about it.

Thanks for leaving your thought here with me.. No.. us, we do appreciate.

And we say, Queen Sue, do have a magical day ahead 🙂

      Sam

    1. Hey Gautams, nice to meet you here on Babanature’s blog 🙂

I’m glad yo love wordpress too….Thanks for leaving your thought here with us…we sure are grateful – and have yourself a magical day ahead:) – Sam Adeyinka

  21. Hello Sam

    1.ease to use
    2.SEO friendly
    3.Security
4.A lots of Plugins can be usedw
4 months ago i Started my Blogging Journey before that i didn’t hear about term “WordPress”. I am also Plugings lover 😀

    1. Hi Rajesh, and welcome to Babanature’s blog – it surely is wonderful to see you here 🙂

I didn’t us Joomla but have heard a lot about it yet it definitely cannot be compared with WordPress.

Aha….thanks for highlighting those again and for adding the security aspect.

Wow! I’m so happy to find yet another plugin lover like myself.

I checked your blog and I love the look and fill. Thumbs up bro and I bet it can always be better.

Do have a wonderful day ahead 🙂

      Sam

  22. Sam, you can say that again…. Word press is really rocking with the stuff they are made off. Actually am using blogger, but i can’t just deny the fact that am already in love with word press. Thanks for that wonderful post.

    1. Hey Bayou,

Obviously, WordPress rocks like you said and it’s the best right now. Well, blogger is great but I don’t like it at all.

It’s good to hear you are loving it…however, when you finally love it, you should port from your blogger account to it.

To help you do that, I have written a “Step by Step Guide on How to Port from Blogger to WordPress” at Doncyber.com. It will really help you whenever you are ready to use and benefit from WordPress just like all the great bloggers now are.

Thanks for stopping by to read and post your lovely comment, I do appreciate – you should have a wonderful day 🙂

      Sam

  23. Hi Sam,
I also use WordPress for my personal blog because of the features you have mentioned above. Thanks for sharing the reasons behind the popularity of WordPress than any other platform.

  24. Hi Sam,

Everybody are saying the same thing and so am I, a big thumbs up to wordpress. Bloggers and webmasters use this rule by telling their readers to go for blogspot if they want to start out with blogging. Wow! So Blogger is now being used as a testing blog?

I started out with wordpress and it rocks, my friend (of course you know him) also moved to wordpress recently and I’m sure he’s enjoying it.

The major things I love and admire about wordpress is how friend the platform is and of course SEO. Who would go for wordpress if it’s not optimized for search engine?

You can’t believe this but I don’t even know the names of the founders of wordpress, at least I learnt something new.
Great post buddy, keep it coming

    1. Hi Sam, and welcome to Babanature’s blog – it surely is nice to see you here 🙂

You are right boss, very right….every body now uses WordPress and I think 14.1% of websites on the internet are powered by WordPress.

You and Dotun are really one Hell of Blogger…you to good, in fact, you are great 🙂 of course I know you are.

Yeah..its really friendly. Whenever I got invited to read an article, I always find it extremely difficult to leave my comment. Of course I would read the article but to leave comment, NO.

Haha….it use to happen, I didn’t know to until I did the research. I’m so glad that you my boss were able to learn something from this article.

Thanks so much for stopping by and for leaving your two cent comment. I really appreciate – have yourself a wonderful and blissful day ahead 🙂

      Sam

      Sam
