But first, what do you understand by “301 redirect”? 301 redirect is used for permanent redirection, from one url to the other (meaning current links or records)

Why do we need this as a blogger?

Sometime, when a blog post gets old, we delete it because we feel it’s no more relevant or when our blog post violate its terms and condition, we delete that post as well.

But do you know that when you delete a post, it affects your blog if not don’t properly? Okay, when you delete a post, it still shows on searches, right? And when Google or other search engines tries to visit that deleted link on a letter time, they will hit a “page not found”. And that’s definitely bad…

  2. Hi Babanature,

Ah…your post reminded me of the time I was on Blogger’s blog, three years back 🙂

I hardly knew about any of the things you mentioned here, but it’s been a learning curve all along, and it was only when I shifted to a WordPress blog that I learnt so many things, including checking Webmasters and those annoying errors. Surely a great tutorial for everyone to keep in mind.

Thanks for sharing. Have a nice week ahead 🙂

    1. Hello Harleena,
You know, 3 to 4 years back, there weren’t that much developers focusing on the blogger blog platform. and you know, there weren’t as much site as it is today 🙂

Today, it is possible to make any blogger blog site as flexible as WordPress… seeing some blogger blog today, it’s hard to differentiate it from WordPress or Other CMS.

Thank you for stopping by an dropping your comment. Have a blessed weekend

  3. Hi Hi Babanature,

I assumed you could do this because my friend Max started a second blog on Blogger but then soon realized that he really just needed to move it to WordPress rather quickly. So he migrated over with everything but I think he only had two posts.

I’m not sure if he did it all by himself since he’s blind but he did do a redirect over to the new site. Since I’m not on Blogger anymore I know it’s really developed over the years and I wouldn’t have a clue how to do any of this now. Thank goodness for people like you who can help us if needed. I wouldn’t have been able to tell him what to do that’s for sure.

Great instructions so thanks for sharing that and I’m sure these are going to come in very handy for some people.

    Have a great week.

    1. Hello Neamat,
Ah… indeed, you need to do a custom redirect for those post you deleted, So your blog can be in good condition (SEO wise).
I will definitely make a post on how to redirect on the wordpress platform.

Thanks for your lovely comments as always dear friend. Do have a blessed weekend.

  5. Hey Babanature,

I wish I would’ve known about this 4 months ago when i was having 404 errors.

I eventually used a plugin to redirect all my links, but I tell you it was a frustrating experience for me since I really didn’t have a clue as to what to do. But with constant research it worked. I used a plugin called Change Permalink Helper which within 10min redirected the majority of my permalinks….

Thank I installed the brokenlink checker plugin to look for any other broken links which is still helpful! But your method seems quite similar to broken link checker and simple at that! Thanks for sharing and I hope you have a good one!

    1. Hello Sherman,
Custom is very important and can be a life saver if done well and it can also penalize a blog if not done correctly.

I have used the change permalink helper sometime back, but i did not like the experience with the plugin. But hey! what might work so well for you, might not for me… 🙂

I am glad you found a way to make your blog more healthy.

Thanks for the comment and do hope you have a beautiful weekend ahead…

  6. Hello,
My blog was working fine with WWW, but I decided to change it to non www. Now I get lots of “Redirect loop”. I can not see my own blog. I bought domain with GoDaddy from bloggerspot.
I dont know what to do.

    Any ideas?

    1. Hello Alonso,
To use a third party domain for a blogger blog, it must begin with the WWW extension before it can work properly.
The reason you are having those problem, is because the WWW is no longer there.

My simple solution: Try to add the WWW. and i am sure your blog will be back to normal…
