4 Tools for Customizing WordPress Themes and Blogger Template

Have you ever wished you could customize your blog’s theme or template? Have you ever had the thought of changing your blogs’ font style, font size and or theme colour? Then I am sure you’re going to love this post.

Customizing WordPress Themes and Blogger Template

Well, I was going to publish this post some few days back, but my phone and laptop got stolen. It got stolen due to my carelessness.

So publishing any post or replying to comments was almost impossible at that hellish time. But thank God, I have bought me a brand new laptop and trying to come back on track… Now back to the topic of discussion 🙂

Some days back, a friend was trying to change the structure and color of his blog. He tried but couldn’t achieve what he wanted to do with his blog.

So he came to me and asked how is it possible for a blogger who do not know much about coding to customize his or her blog. I told him, as long as you have the idea of what you want to do and you are smart, changing some few things on your blog won’t be a big deal.

Today, we are going to discuss 4(four) tools that will definitely help you to customize your blog.

Remember that the tools I am about to share with you is only limited based on what you can actually do with it… what I am trying to say is, the limit of these tools are – unlimited 😉

4 Tools for Customizing WordPress Themes and Blogger Template

Without wasting much of our time, let me rush right to my top 4 tools for customizing all kind of WordPress themes and Blogger templates.

The first on my list is none other than;

Firebug:

According to its developer – Firebug integrates with Firefox to put a wealth of web development tools at your fingertips while you browse. You can edit, debug, and monitor CSS, HTML, and JavaScript live in any web page.

Firebug is a Firefox add-on made for developers.

I love Firebug because it helps you edit your CSS, HTML of your blog seamlessly. And allow you to find the real code to edit.

Just open the blog you want to edit – open your Firebug and locate where you’d love to edit. Feels simple right?

Guest what? With all the good things this gem can do, Firebug is still 100% free

Dreamweaver:

According to Lynda.com – Adobe Dreamweaver is an application used by web designers and developers to create websites and applications for use across multiple targets – including browsers, devices, and tablets.

Dreamweaver has the power to edit any blogs’ theme without stress, but as long as you have the knowledge of little coding and also, if you know your way around dream weaver.

Instant WP

According to its developer – Instant WordPress is a complete standalone, portable WordPress development environment. It turns any Windows machine into a WordPress development server.

Okay, here is the thing – Many bloggers test their plugins, edit their blogs themes/templates live on their blog. and to be honest with you, that’s bad, why? Simply because you have traffic coming in your blog so it would be bad for them (your traffic) to see your blog messed up.

With the instantWP, you can edit your blog theme or test any plugins using your pc before it goes live on your blog. That way, you won’t irritate your readers when editing your blog 🙂

Forefox developer edition

I had to add this new innovation from Mozilla Firefox, why? This browser is built specifically for developers, so imaging the wide functionality it would have.

According to its developers – Firefox Developer Edition brings your core dev tools together with some powerful new ones that will extend your ability to work across multiple platforms from one place. It’s everything you’re used to, only better.

Imagine you have the power to edit web audio, monitor network, JavaScript debugger, style editor and more… all in one place, won’t you love it?

Don’t worry, because this Firefox is light weight and doesn’t crash as the normal Firefox does

Conclusion

I know that there are still some awesome tools and software or even plugin out there that can help you edit your blog without stress. But I selected these four because I have used them all and they are working wonders.

  2. Hi Babanature,

Sorry to hear about your phone and laptop being stolen, but if we look at things positively – perhaps the person who took it needed it, and that gave you a chance to get new ones, so cheer up 🙂

Coming to the post, I think you know me! I’d love to customize themes, and have done a little tweaking with the older ones, but I have never done that work – my better half is good in that, and how he does it, I never know! I just see the end result, and he keeps tweaking it to perfection till he gets a ‘YES’ from me…lol…so I am actually saved of all these sites and the trouble. But informative post for those who are into it of course.

Thanks for sharing. Have a nice week ahead 🙂

    1. Hello Harleena,
I am not worried about the laptop or the phone but the files, documents and contacts on the phone. But as you said, maybe he needs it more than me 🙂 .

Your better half is doing a good job so far…. but I’d advise you to try and learn how to take care of some little codes in case of emergency.

Thank you so much for stopping by and dropping your comment. Do have a lovely weekend and a blessed Easter celebration.

  3. Hello Babanature,

  5. Hey Babanature,

It’s been a while since I’ve been here. Sorry to hear what happened to your phone and laptop. I know you felt pretty naked without them. I was without my phone for 2 weeks because it feel and I broke the LCD chip.

But anyways, this is a great list of tools you have. I’ve done a little programming on my blog in CSS on my old themes. I haven’t done any programming since I installed Genesis, but it’s good to know just in case you can make those extra changes which goes beyond the visible controls on a theme.

I’ve never heard of these tools, but it sounds like it’ll make life easier when it comes to programming and manipulating the look of your theme. Thanks for sharing Babanature! You have a good one!

    1. Hello Sherman,

      It’s indeed been a while… 🙂
The Laptop and my phone this weigh me down when it got stolen because of the information and documents i had in it. I have bought me a new one but still trying to recover the phone numbers and documents i have lost in my previous one 🙂

I think I needed to read this one because I’m going to be changing themes soon and I have a lot of things coded on mine right now. It won’t be a smooth transaction I’m sure but will the Instant WP program work for that? If so then I definitely need to get that one.

I’ve heard about if from Lisa Irby but was thinking it was just an easier way for people to work in WordPress and didn’t realize I guess you could use it for that. I never unloaded it which is why I ask.

Thanks for these tips and so glad I stopped by. You have a great weekend.
