  1. Hi Babanature,

It’s kind of you to put up a post to help your friend because I can well imagine what he must be going through with his blog hacked! Yes indeed, bloggers blogs are more as a risk as compared to the WordPress one’s, and if you are on a free platform – all the more reason.

I was on Blogger as you know, though that was two years ago, and thankfully never came across such an issue. But yes, I wonder what I would have done had my blog been hacked! I honestly would have NO idea how to take care or back it up that time, though of course now WP has many ways that you can backup your blog, which I do.

Thanks for sharing this with us. Have a nice week ahead 🙂

  7. Hi Babanature,

I do not use Blogger but I agree with backing up your blog. It is an absolute must.
I use a WordPress blog and here is my system for backing up the content:

    1. WordPress database backup plugin – saves the core Worpress Tables.
    2. Export option in WordPress dashboard – it creates and XML file (and saves more than the above plugin)
    3. PhpMyAdmin – it saves the whole database (the most complete option).

However, I am still not satisfied. I want a system that is automatic, saves everything and it is not a plugin.

    Have a nice day

Maybe your backup is corrupt or the backup was not downloaded properly. Or you should try the restore on a wordpress or other blog platform to see if it’ll work but if it doesn’t, then the download was not downloaded properly.

  11. I don’t care for blogger, but can’t stress enough about backing up any website. This should be done regularly. Who wants also to leave a comment in hopes of a backward link and have that link disappear because the site went down and can not be retrieved. It also will effect your rankings as well. Very good information.

    1. I couldn’t agree with you more Arleen :).

  13. Great tutorial, Babanature. Blogger blog is quite easy to maintain. But sometimes, making changes to your templates or trying to customize them could lead to losing your posts.

To avoid those nasty situations from happening, you must backup your templates. Whenever you run into troubles, you can easily go back to the copy saved in your PC and replace the template.

Thanks once again for the tutorial. have a nice week.

    1. Hello Efoghor,
You know, in blogger messing up with your template will not affect the post in anyway because the template is not associated with the post… But messing your blog’s template will definitely mess up any blog :).

Yeah! i couldn’t agree with you more, backing up your blog template is also and highly important for any blogger blog users.
Thanks for stopping by and dropping you comment. do have a good weekend

  14. It sucks that your friends blog got hacked and even worse that he did not have a backup of it.

I don’t use Blogger, I use WordPress. I do daily backups of my site. The backups are set up to be done automatically by using the Backup Buddy plugin.

I set it up to do the backups and then the backups are sent to my Amazon S3 account. This definitely helps me sleep at night knowing that my site is backed up.

I lost my site once before I started doing backups. Thank goodness the site was still brand new when I lost it. I think it had 7 posts on it. But still it was terrible to have to start all over again. Lesson learned.

    1. Hello Susan,
You truly do know how to take good care of your blog when it comes to backups :).

Wow!!! losing your blog’s must have been frustrated. I’ve always done my backups manually and i make sure i do it like 3days interval, but now that my work load is increasing by the day, i’d truly use me a plugin as well 🙂

Thanks for stopping by and dropping your comment. do have a good week ahead…
